Qld: Lergal bid to seize former minister Nuttall's home

By Jade Bilowol

BRISBANE, Feb 19 AAP - The Queensland government has launched a bid to place a freeze
on disgraced former state health minister Gordon Nuttall's Brisbane home.

Lawyers for the government today submitted an application to the Supreme Court in an
attempt to prevent any sale of Nuttall's Sandgate home in the northern bayside area.

If successful, the move would enable Nuttall to live in his colonial home but he would
not be allowed to sell it.

Nuttall's lawyer Michael Byrne requested the materials submitted by the government be suppressed.

He argued publication of the documents could prejudice criminal proceedings against his client.

Nuttall, who retired last year, has been charged with 35 counts of corruptly receiving
payments totalling $300,000 from businessman Ken Talbot between October 24, 2002, and
September 28, 2005.

Nuttal has maintained his innocence, as has Talbot who also faces charges over the matter.

The Crime and Misconduct Commission (CMC) widened its investigation of the former MP
last week, raiding several properties connected to him.

Nuttall's Brisbane home, a holiday home at Woodgate near Bundaberg and his father-in-law's
home, also at Woodgate, were reportedly raided, as were the homes of former Queensland
Health senior official Geoff Stevenson, and the home of his friend Graham Doyle.

Talbot, the founder of Macarthur Coal - Australia's biggest locally owned coal miner
- has been charged with making 35 corrupt payments to Nuttall.

Crown lawyer Delma Osbourne today said she neither supported nor opposed the defence's
request for a non-publication order.

Judge Martin Moynihan acknowledged publication of the materials could impinge on Nuttall's
right to a fair trial.

"We are talking about jurors ... the risk is they will be tainted in their decision,"

Justice Moynihan told the court.

"There is factual material which, for example, is capable of giving a potentially false
air of authenticity ... particularly in this bundle of material."

Lawyers for Queensland Newspapers also appeared in court, arguing for the order not
to apply to their client.

Justice Moynihan invited submissions from the parties concerned and adjourned the matter
until tomorrow morning.

FED:Windsor challenges Joyce to resign

FED:Windsor challenges Joyce to resign

By Paul Osborne, AAP Senior Political Writer

CANBERRA, April 19 AAP - Independent MP Tony Windsor says Barnaby Joyce should resign
his Senate seat immediately if he wants to make a tilt for the lower house and eventually
take on the Nationals leadership.

The Nationals leader in the Senate, who hails from Tamworth in Mr Windsor's rural NSW
seat of New England, says he wants to sit in the House of Representatives.

With no Queensland MP willing to step aside for him, he is eyeing off the former long-held
Nationals seat in which he and his wife grew up, his children were born and his family
still has a sheep and cattle grazing property.

Mr Windsor, who has faced a backlash in his area after delivering minority government
to Labor last year, said Senator Joyce had previously flagged a run for the lower house
but failed to live up to the rhetoric.

"I think if Barnaby Joyce is serious ... he'd want to resign his seat in the Senate
because by intending to stand in another state, he's abandoning the state that's put him
there," Mr Windsor told ABC radio.

"He'd want to put himself on the line and start campaigning as soon as possible.

"If he's not serious ... this is just an attack of attention deficit problems."

Constitutional expert Professor George Williams said Senator Joyce could continue as
a senator until he signs the electoral commission form nominating for a lower house seat.

In 1990, Australian Democrats leader Janine Haines remained a senator until the March
election was called, when she unsuccessfully stood for the South Australian lower house
seat of Kingston.

Senator Joyce, who recently campaigned in the area during the NSW state election, said
Mr Windsor's support for Labor would go against him at the federal poll due in 2013.

"Certainly, I had a lot of feedback that people were very disappointed ... about their
local member supporting a Labor-Green-independent government and that does not align with
their views of the world," Senator Joyce said.

"People almost fall over themselves to tell you about it."

The day after the 2010 federal election, when asked whether he could work with a coalition
government that included Senator Joyce, Mr Windsor said: "I don't deal with fools terribly
lightly and I think, under any definition, the man's a fool".

Senator Joyce said voters were not interested in a "personal fight" in the seat.

The former accountant's preselection is not guaranteed, with a number of locals expressing
interest in the seat, but senior party figures have expressed cautious support for the
high-profile candidate.

"Barnaby would certainly provide an important focus for us in that electorate - it's
one we must win and I'm determined we do well there," Nationals leader Warren Truss said.

NSW Nationals Senator John Williams said that while his colleague's interest in the
seat was welcome "there is a process that has to be followed and a lot can change between
now and then".

Senator Joyce said he had no intention of challenging Mr Truss for the Nationals leadership
should he win the seat, but at some stage in the future if the leader were to retire he
would throw his hat into the ring.

A spokesman for Mr Truss said the 62-year-old Queensland MP intended to contest the
2013 election.

Prime Minister Julia Gillard said Senator Joyce - who was earlier this year demoted
from the coalition's finance portfolio after a series of gaffes - was potentially in line
to be deputy prime minister under an Abbott government.

"What I think this means is Tony Abbott should come clean about the nature of the team
he will take into the next election," she told reporters in Canberra.

Mr Windsor, a former National, has long been an independent and holds his seat by 21.5 per cent.

Forget speed: Now it's all about graphics ; Chip makers shift focus of marketing to reflect video and photo use

Forget speed: Now it's all about graphics ; Chip makers shift focus of marketing to reflect video and photo use
Byline: ASHLEE VANCE
Type: News

Quick, effortless graphics processing is the feature being highlighted in new products by companies like Intel and Advanced Micro Devices.

In the good old days, it was all about speed.
Computer chip makers like Intel and Advanced Micro Devices tried to outdo each other by putting out ever faster chips, and then by making improvements that would extend battery life and allow for smaller, less expensive laptops.

These days, though, it is all about graphics and how well computers can process and display photos, videos and other types of media. And the competition is putting marketing departments to the test.

Gone are the crisp pitches about faster, thinner and longer- lasting products, which allowed consumers who wanted the latest and greatest computer to look for simple metrics like more gigahertz of processing, more hours of battery life or lighter weight.

Instead, now there is baffling talk about things that improve visual performance like breathtaking tessellation, zippy transcoding speeds and DirectX 11 support -- all of which will be highlighted by the chip makers at the Consumer Electronics Show this year, opening in Las Vegas on Thursday.

"It is certainly a challenge," conceded Deborah S. Conrad, the chief marketing officer at Intel. "When we talk about graphics, we see people scrunch up their noses. It is just not language people outside of our industry use."

The focus on graphics and the visual skills of computers reflects a pair of trends in the computing market.

For one, the chips in the computers to be displayed at the electronics show, which will soon hit retailer's shelves, have more graphics capability. They represent the first wave of mainstream chips that combine top-of-the-line computation and graphics functions on the same piece of silicon. The result is that even low- cost laptops will have visual performance on par with some of the costliest, most powerful computers of yesteryear that were equipped with specialized graphics cards aimed at video game players.

Second, consumers have driven an explosion in high-definition Web video and digital photo sharing. According to some forecasts, video will account for about 90 percent of all consumer Internet traffic by 2013. Facebook says that people upload more than 100 million photos a day to its site alone.

And so, the chip makers are scrambling to meet consumers' needs and do away with the hiccups people sometimes see when watching a video stream or the long wait to shift a home video from a camera or phone onto their PC.

"We think the new norm is this constant visual experience," Ms. Conrad said. "You are not waiting for things to happen and getting that pinwheel on a Mac or hourglass on the PC."

Intel, for example, is using the electronics show this week as a platform to talk about its latest generation of chips, which include features like Quick Think Video. That is the humanized name for a new transcoding engine, which is something that alters the size or makeup of a file.

In this particular case, Intel brags that its new engine can take a five-minute video from a phone and, in 18 seconds, turn it into something a computer can use. By another measure, the new Intel chips can rework an hourlong home video in about four minutes.

Other features in the new Intel chips are aimed at helping movie studios deliver high-definition versions of their films and to move video streams between computers and TV screens.

Advanced Micro Devices, meanwhile, makes some of the fastest stand-alone graphics products in the industry and has included much of that technology in its latest batch of laptop chips.

Rick Bergman, a senior vice president at A.M.D., has tried to emphasize the performance of the new products by saying they offer consumers the equivalent of a hotel room with an ocean view.

"Some people are usually willing to pay a premium for that ocean view," Mr. Bergman said, during a recent meeting with Wall Street analysts. "Well, all of us deserve the ocean view."

A.M.D. has been working with software makers to help them rework their applications to take advantage of the new chips that include graphics engines. The company claims a lead over Intel with this type of technology, and says common programs from Microsoft, game developers and Web browser makers will display visuals better on computers using A.M.D. chips.

For instance, technology in A.M.D.'s chips can automatically remove some of the hand-held jiggle from movies on Web sites like YouTube. The revamped videos come out smoother and more vibrant.

To emphasize such features with consumers, A.M.D. has also spent the better part of a year trying to train retail sales representatives in the art of marketing visual performance. According to the company's own data, about half have mastered A.M.D.'s graphics-heavy pitch.

Intel has developed what it bills as more nuanced marketing programs that aim at 18- to 24-year-olds with the message that top- of-the-line computers let people "write better songs, design better clothes and design better buildings," Ms. Conrad said.

The company has set up a Web site called the Creators Project where young people can promote their creations at Intel's expense.

Ms. Conrad said all of the attention on the visual performance of chips and investment in the accompanying technology meant that amazing graphics would be commonplace in a couple of years.

"That's the good news," Ms. Conrad said, before lamenting that the chip makers would then need to find the next big thing to promote.

K.M. Boopathy
New Straits Times
08-22-2010
The Malaysian challenge
Byline: K.M. Boopathy
Edition: New Sunday Times
Section: Main Section

K.M. BOOPATHY takes a look at what we can expect from the national shuttlers in the Paris World Championships which start tomorrow.

Men's & Women's Singles
Lee Chong Wei

World Ranking: 1

Age: 28

Titles in 2010: Malaysia Open, Korea Open, Malaysia Grand Prix Gold, All England, Indonesia Open, Macau Open

World Championship best: Semi-finals (2005)

Form Guide: Very successful in open tournaments but has struggled to transform that form in major events. Rival Lin Dan is exactly the opposite and both are expected to meet in the semis in Paris. The sound beating Chong Wei received at the hands of Lin Dan during the Thomas Cup took some time to heal and the Olympic champion will be the player the Malaysian must overcome in order to taste a first world crown.

Wong Mew Choo

World Ranking: 19

Age: 27

Titles in 2010: Nil

World Championships best: Last 16 (2007)

Form Guide: Injuries and lack of confidence haven't helped Mew Choo in becoming a world class player. Has performed well in patches, like in 2007 when she won the China Open beating the then top China shuttlers. Mew Choo's form this year has been poor and she faces another early exit in Paris.

Hafiz Hashim

World Ranking: 18

Age: 28

Titles in 2010: Nil

World Championships best: Last 16 (2003)

Form Guide: Hafiz is fortunate to be given a chance to play in the World Championships despite his poor form. A second round meeting with Chong Wei means there is nothing much he can achieve in Paris.

Wong Choong Hann

World Ranking: 21

Age: 33

Titles in 2010: Nil

World Championships best: Runner-up (2003)

Form Guide: Choong Hann is Malaysia's best ever singles performer at the World Championships but is way past his prime. The lack of depth in the national back-up squad has allowed him to qualify again for the major event but he is not likely to get past the preliminary rounds.

Lydia Cheah

World Ranking: 78

Age: 22

Titles in 2010: Nil

World Championships best: Preliminary rounds

Form Guide: A player gifted with skills and height, Lydia has not achieved her true potential. Very erratic and fumbles when the stakes are high. Hard to predict her performance and another early casualty.

Men's Doubles

Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong

World Ranking: 1

Age: 25 and 23

Titles in 2010: Malaysia Open

World Championships best: Semi-finals (2009)

Form Guide: They are the World No 1 but their performance hardly resembles that status. Kien Keat-Boon Heong's inconsistency is legendary and they must discard that weakness if they want to progress in Paris. A training stint at the University of Bath is said to have put them in a good frame of mind but bogeymen Jung Jae Sung-Lee Yong Dae of South Korea will be in their path en route to a place in the last four.

Choong Tan Fook-Lee Wan Wah

World Ranking: 17

Age: 34 and 35

Titles in 2010: Nil

World Championships best: Semi-finals (2001, 2007)

Form Guide: Tan Fook-Wan Wah have already shown interest in taking up coaching and are probably playing only because they have qualified for the major event. Managed to reach the semis twice but it will be a tall order for them.

Gan Teik Chai-Tan Bin Shen

World Ranking: 21

Age: 27 and 26

Titles in 2010: Nil

World Championships best: debutants

Form Guide: Teik Chai-Bin Shen capitalised on the pathetic form of Zakry Latif-Fairuzizuan Tazari to qualify and it will be hard for them to match the elite pairs. Credit is due to them for pushing the backup pairs to the sidelines but not expected to make any surprises.

Mixed Doubles

Chan Peng Soon-Goh Liu Ying

World Ranking: 24

Age: 22 and 20

Titles in 2010: Asian Championships

World Championships best: 1st rd (2009)

Form Guide: Playing in their second world championships and the most improved Malaysian pair. Showed their ability by winning the Asian Championships but still have a long way to go as they are plagued by inconsistency. Need to be more confident if they wish to shock some big names in Paris.

TechnoDex ventures into online gaming

New Straits Times

TechnoDex ventures into online gaming
Edition: Main/Lifestyle
Section: Business Times
Type: Company

MESDAQ-listed TechnoDex Bhd, an MSC-status company, has through its Hong Kong based subsidiary TDex Global Limited (TDex Global) ventured into the online gaming sector with the signing of a shareholder's agreement with Hitone Digital Interactive Technology Co Ltd of China.

TDex Global will acquire 33 per cent of Hitone for a cash consideration of RMB10 million (RM4.5 million).
Shenzhen-based Hitone, established in June 2005, evolved from an interactive creative art centre into a creative online game designer and developer. Hitone has successfully piloted "Childhood" in mid- 2007 in China and has a pipeline of innovative online games under development.

"With the equity participation, we hope to not just tap the potential of "Childhood", but also play an active role in China's lucrative online gaming market. This venture will serve to smoothen our earnings flow and create a broader base of recurrent revenue for the group, " TechnoDex's chief executive officer Nigel Lee Siew Tat said in a statement.

The acquisition of Hitone will be funded by internally generated funds.

"Our role in the immediate term will be to provide strategic planning, marketing, and infrastructure provision such as the game registration, payment system, and game hosting servers for "Childhood". Hitone, on the other hand, will continue to develop and maintain the game systems," Lee added.

"Childhood" is an online green game, in that it does not contain negative aspects such as violence. The pilot run of "Childhood" has attracted 1,000,000 players to date.

According to industry estimates, China's online gaming industry was worth about US$1.04 billion (RM4.68 billion) in 2006, and is expected to reach US$3.9 billion (RM13.03 billion) by 2010.

This rapid growth is driven by the increasing number of Internet users in China, adequate infrastructure and lower cost of playing online games compared to that of console games, the statement said.

Furthermore, China-made online games held 65 per cent of the domestic market in 2006, overtaking the previous dominance of American and Japanese games.

"In fact, the demand for online gaming is not only concentrated in China, but also across the region. Mindful of this, we are in negotiations with Hitone to secure exclusive rights to market the "Childhood" game in other markets such as Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia and Malaysia. We foresee that the growing demand for online gaming will continue to fuel the growth of our venture," Lee said.

He said Hitone anticipates to roll out up to three games within the next year.

"Given that the lifespan of a typical online game is approximately three years, we believe that this timely venture will place us in a strategic position to capture the uptrend and effectively broaden our earnings base," he said

Fed: Paying for sex as therapy has Aussie success

Fed: Paying for sex as therapy has Aussie success

By Tamara McLean, National Medical Writer

SYDNEY, April 18 AAP - A controversial sex therapy where men pay to get erotic "lessons"

from women is having success in Australia, a world sex congress has been told.

Sex surrogate therapy is frowned on by most in the medical establishment, but a Melbourne-based
sexologist who recently resurrected the contentious treatment says business is booming
and the results are good.

Dr Brian Hickman takes on clients, mostly male, who pay $600 a session to help overcome
problems ranging from nervousness to premature ejaculation by "practising sexual exercises"

with a so-called sex surrogate.

The sessions sometimes include full sex "if that relates to their issue", and are followed
with briefings between the client, female surrogate and a trained therapist.

The once-popular therapy has met much opposition in Australia and is, in Dr Hickman's
words, "not entirely legal" but he says his results have been "amazing".

A review of 30 clients, 29 men and one woman, presented to the World Congress on Sexual
Health in Sydney showed a 95 per cent success rate.

"People get very upset by what we do and seem to think we're all just prostitutes having
sex for money, but they've got it very wrong," Dr Hickman said.

"My results show that done properly, this therapy can be very, very effective and it's
really worth pursuing."

The clients were all aged 20-35, single and suffering from a range of issues from difficulty
holding hands or talking to women to addiction to internet pornography.

His six surrogates, mostly young women in "the arts and creative" industries, worked
with them one-on-one primarily to build confidence, teach them how to touch and talk to
women and, in 15 per cent of cases, have sex.

"People make a huge deal about the intercourse element but really this is only a small
part of what we're doing here," Dr Hickman told the gathering of sexual health experts.

"We need you guys to stop shunning it and embrace it because it really works."

The contentious practice was developed by sex gurus Masters and Johnson more than 60
years ago, and its popularity peaked with the free love movement of the 1970s.

It faded out with the emergence of HIV/AIDS and still has fierce opposition from most
in psychiatry circles who say it is prostitution in disguise.

"If sex workers can be teachers in this context then teachers should change their job
titles," said Turkish psychiatrist Mehmet Sungur, who addressed the conference.

The therapy is too expensive, emotionally confusing for the client and there is "incredibly
little" proof it actually works, he said.

Elijah

Elijah The ninth-century BCE prophet active during the reign of King Ahab and Ahaziah as told in the book of Kings (1 Kings 17–19; 21; 2 Kings 1–2). In Elijah's confrontation with the prophets of Baal (1 Kings 18) the prophet presents to the people his famous either/or: ‘How long will you waver between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow Him; and if Baal, follow him!’ Elijah, even in the Bible, is a mysterious figure, whose sudden appearance is announced without preamble and without the name of his father or any other details of his early life: ‘Elijah the Tishbite, an inhabitant of Gilead, said to Ahab, “As the Lord lives, the God of Israel whom I serve, there will be no dew or rain except at my bidding”’ (1 Kings 17: 1). In the book of Malachi (3: 24), Elijah is the figure who will reappear on the great judgement day of the future; on the basis of this, Elijah, who did not die but was taken up to heaven in a chariot of fire (2 Kings 2), becomes, in later Jewish thought, the herald of the Messiah.

In the Talmudic period, it was believed that Elijah frequently returns to earth to teach and converse with certain Rabbis of special merit. Two later Midrashim, The Great Teaching of Elijah and The Lesser Teaching of Elijah, purport to be the record of these discourses of Elijah and the Talmudic Rabbis.

Velazco Oliva: Abolition of electricity subsidies was to make sector attractive to buyers.

MEXICO CITY, Jul 1, 2002 (Diario de Yucatan/Corporate Mexico by Internet Securities, Inc. via COMTEX) -- The elimination of electricity subsidies was a two-pronged initiative, said Cuauhtemoc Velazco Oliva, president of the Special Energy Commission of the Mexico City Legislative Assembly. The idea was to both increase revenue for the federal government and make the sector more attractive to potential buyers, Velazco said. According to him, the federal government obtained 12.6 billion pesos (US$1.3 billion) in extra funds by eliminating the subsidy. Although the government insisted the subsidy cut would affect only large consumers of electricity, Velazco said the burden fell to small and medium-sized users. As an example, he said residential consumers in the Mexico City area using 200 kilowatts per month saw an 81% increase in their electricity rates.

Fortune Financial Systems, Inc. Reports 9 Month Record Revenues.

* Company reports record fiscal 9 Months Revenues of $32,000,000

* Possible problems with final settlement on preferred convertible program

* Company seeks to raise $5.5 million

SALT LAKE CITY, Jan. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- The preliminary results for sales during the nine months ending December 31, were approximately $32,000,000 compared with $19,000,000 for same prior year period. This represents a 68% increase in revenue over the same period last year. The company's budget plan anticipates that the consolidated pre-tax profits for the nine-month period are profitable. As soon as some audit issues are clarified with regard to such things as length of time for goodwill amortization, deferred revenue, and other such issues, the company anticipates filing to become a fully reporting company.

With the fiscal fourth quarter ending March 31, 1999, being the largest revenue generating quarter and barring some unforeseen circumstances, the company is still looking to produce revenues in the mid forty million dollar range and be profitable.

Due to the company's rapid growth, it continues to be in a cash crunch. and is additionally seeking to secure bank lines of credit in the $3-4 million range to support its increasing operational cash flow requirements.

With regard to the prior release last October 1998 regarding the resolution and final settlement on $2 million take down on $20 million preferred convertible program. As previously described, the company's largest shareholder, Success Holdings, Inc. and principals, indicated to the Company that they had signed certain agreements to purchase the Deere Park investment position. Under those agreements, installment payments were to be made. The company has just been notified by Deere Park that there exists an alleged default to them and that they will now look to the company for payment. The company's corporate council is evaluating whether the agreements were consummated. In any event, the company will seek solutions.

Additionally, the company is proceeding with its new business plan to raise $5.5 Million dollars in a combination of debt and equity. The proceeds will be used to support the internal growth, support new ventures and the possibly pay off the alleged Deere Park position.

The statements made in this press release are forward looking and reflect the Company's current expectations. There can be no assurances that the Company's actual result will meet the Company's expectations. The Company's future operating results are difficult to predict and are subject to significant fluctuations. Factors that may cause future results to differ materially from the Company's current expectation include, among other: general economic conditions, the ability and timeliness of raising funds, the health of the training industry, the expansion of the telecommunications and teleservicing industry, and the rapid expansion of the Internet industry, infomercial media costs, inventory management, company acquisitions, and size of customer outplacement accounts and the acquisition cost of new strategic business alliances.

GrubHub Launches Revamped Android App.

CHICAGO -- GrubHub, a web and mobile service that connects diners to restaurants and simplifies online ordering for delivery and pickup, announced the release of its revamped Android app today. Rebuilt from the ground up, the GrubHub Android app allows diners to order food on the go from over 5,000 restaurants in 13 cities, with more cities continuing to be added.

"Not too long ago, finding and ordering anything more exotic than pizza or Chinese was difficult, to say the least," said Mike Evans, GrubHub co-founder and COO. "It's a lot easier these days thanks to more efficient mobile food apps. Between GrubHub's new Android app and our iPhone app, diners can easily order food from home, work or whatever local watering hole they are at."

The new app lets diners use their phone's GPS capabilities to scan their current location for all the restaurants delivering to exactly where they are. They can also narrow their search by cuisine or search for a specific restaurant or menu item. The app also features thousands of reviews and ratings to help the diner make an informed decision. And once they've decided what they are hungry for and placed an order, GrubHub's Android app will save the address, payment info and order details to make ordering again even easier than the first time.

"We project orders through the GrubHub apps to comprise 25 percent of our sales by the end of 2011," said Evans. "And with Android handsets making up the fastest growing segment of the smartphone market, we knew we had to deliver an amazing experience through this app to reach that goal."

The app is free to download from the Android Market. It is also free for diners to order online at GrubHub.com.

About GrubHub

GrubHub is a ventured-back company founded in 2004 by Chicago-based software engineers Matt Maloney and Mike Evans. Frustrated by the lack of delivery information available on the Internet, they created the online service to organize delivery information. Visitors to the site type in their address on GrubHub.com, and the page will display every local restaurant that delivers to them, with the restaurants' menus, hours for delivery, available coupons and reviews. The rapidly growing company works with over 4,000 restaurants for online ordering and shows menus from over 14,000 restaurants in Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, Boston, Denver, Philadelphia, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, Portland, Boulder, Denver, Washington D.C. and Oakland. Osama driver guilty.

Provided by 7DAYS.ae

A military court yesterday convicted Osama bin Laden's driver of supporting terrorism but acquitted him on the more serious charge of

conspiring with Al Qaeda in the first US war crimes trial since World War Two.The trial of Yemeni captive Salim Hamdan at the US naval base at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba was the first full test of the controversial tribunal authorised by the Bush administration to try foreign captives on terrorism charges outside the regular US court system. The White House welcomed the conviction while human rights and civil liberties groups condemned it.A sentence hearing was scheduled for late last night. Hamdan faces a maximum penalty of life in prison. The jurors deliberated a little over eight hours before reaching their verdict.Hamdan stood tensely in the courtroom beside his lawyers as the verdict was announced, listening through headphones to the English-Arabic interpreter. He raised his hands and wept into them as the guilty verdict was read.In Washington, White House spokesman Tony Fratto said: "The Military Commission system is a fair and appropriate legal process for prosecuting detainees alleged to have committed crimes against the United States or our interests. We look forward to other cases moving to trial," he said. The American Civil Liberties Union said it viewed the tribunal process as deeply flawed."Any verdict resulting from such a flawed system is a betrayal of American values. The rules for the Guantanamo military commissions are so flawed that justice could never be served. From start to finish, this has been a monumental debacle of American justice," said ACLU Executive Director Anthony Romero .The jury of military officers heard two weeks of testimony, including that of ten federal agents who interrogated Hamdan without warning him that his confessions would be used against him in a criminal trial.

"The zBoost Metro YX540iP is bundled with an iTunes gift card and the zBoost your Business Application Guide to help our customers looking for an iPhone centric solution to maximize their device, reduce dropped calls and put an end to slow data."

Connected Consumers

According to the annual zBoost State of the Signal Survey commissioned by Wi-Ex and conducted online by Harris Interactive in April 2011, 65 percent of online cell phone/smartphone owners experience problems with their cell phone or smartphone service including dropped calls or data, poor reception or dead zones in their home or poor signal reception or dead zones at work. In addition and important to iPhone and iPad users, 58 percent of online cell phone/smartphone owners who use data functions have experienced problems with service while using data functions including slow transmission of data (38 percent), poor signal/dead zone in home (23 percent) and poor signal/dead zone at work (20 percent.)

"Consumer reliance on iPhones, iPads and other smartphone and connected devices is increasing rapidly, making a strong cell phone signal indoors even more important. Who wants a device you can only use half the time because you don't have a strong in-door signal," added Cuppett. "We are constantly looking at the needs and digital lifestyles of our customers so we can provide them with a zBoost solution to fit their needs."

Tablet Techie - It is estimated that nearly 70 million media tablets will be shipped in 2011 and they are being used as a personal device as well as an enterprise tool that enables users to stay on top of work after hours and during down time.

Smartphone Savvy - The smartphone is a staple in today's hyperconnected world and by the end of 2011 it is expected that half of Americans will use a smartphone. A third of Americans use these digital Swiss Army knives to keep up with their schedules, check personal and work emails, the weather and stay connected on Facebook and Twitter.

iFamily - Today's families are more connected than ever before with moms leading the adoption of smartphones to check weather, stay connected to the family and manage their schedules at home and on the go. The zBoost State of the Signal Survey found that 54 percent of online cell phone/smartphone owners have used their cell phone or smartphone to stay connected to others in the home by calling or texting others who are in the home at the same time.

iWorker - The zBoost survey also revealed that 55 percent of online teleworkers1 who use a smartphone/cell phone for teleworking experience problems with their service while teleworking including poor signal, dead zones or dropped calls. Cell phones/smartphone can be essential communication tools for teleworkers and when they don't get signal, it can make even more work.

It is clear TiVo is leading the way in providing more choice, and also leading the way in finding content quickly. TiVo Search is a new way to find what you've been missing."

TiVo Search takes advantage of extra screen size afforded by high definition televisions by showing more details about a highlighted program than ever before, eliminating the need to dig down into each and every program to learn what it is about. It ensures the most important information is surfaced right up to the screen you're already on, equaling less navigation and quick, accurate results.

"One of the best things about the new TiVo Search feature is how it works as a discovery engine, helping users find content they didn't even know they could get," said Jim Denney, Vice President of Product Marketing at TiVo Inc. "We've added a new discovery bar that gives a quick guide to relevant content, and the search experience incorporates content from broadband sources like Amazon Video on Demand and YouTube. The newly tuned search engine also displays the most popular search results of the day automatically, even when typing only a single letter. Searches work not with just the first word of a title, but any word of the program, which is especially handy when looking for programs with specific search words."

The new interface not only displays in high definition, it has a focus on finding high definition television content. TiVo search automatically recommends high definition television channels and episodes when users schedule a program to record. Additionally, users can now browse shows season by season and select any episode they want utilizing a robust episode guide. Depending on availability users may record content from cable/antenna, download it from Amazon Video on Demand, or use WishList searches to record it the next time the content is broadcast.

Seeing equals believing, and the new TiVo Search is no exception. Starting today broadband connected TiVo Series3, TiVo HD, and HD XL subscribers can experience a beta version of the feature on their TiVo DVR, which can be found under Music, Photos, and Showcases. TiVo Search will be on display at the TiVo Inc Booth at the Consumer Electronics Tradeshow, Room N202 running January 8th - 11th.
