NSW: Woman makes emotional plea for safe return of sister

By Sharon Labi

SYDNEY, Dec 22 AAP - The sister of a Malaysian student who disappeared in Sydney two
weeks ago made an emotional plea today for her safe return in time for the new year.

Yoke Phin Loh, also known as Gene Loh, had been studying for three years at the Billy
Blue College in Sydney's north and was scheduled to graduate from a graphic design course
three days after she mysteriously vanished.

The last known sighting of the 38-year-old woman was at Rockdale railway station in
Sydney's south on December 6.

Her sister, Cheng Loh, today broke down as she told reporters of Gene's happy nature.

"She was happy and when we needed help she would help us," an emotional Cheng Loh said.

"If you see her, please contact us because we have made a promise we will meet in Malaysia
for New Year."

Cheng Loh said she had been living in Japan and it had been years since she had seen her sister.

"So everybody's waiting for her to come to New Year ... we're all loving her and waiting
for her to come home."

She arrived in Sydney with her father to help police search for Gene.

Gene's flatmate, Graham Lambie, said it was out of character for Gene to disappear.

"There are a lot of worried people out there," he said.

"It's not like Gene at all, she just doesn't do this."

He said he last saw her on the morning of December 6 when he left for work from their
Homebush home.

"She was a dedicated studier, she'd just been up all night just doing her work, just
studying and that's where I left her."

Police are baffled by Gene's disappearance and have appealed for anyone who knows her
whereabouts to contact Auburn Detectives on 9646 6899 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
